April 18th to 28th, 2020, Gerhard Potgieter is organizing a bike ride from Johannesburg to Siteki in eSwatini (formerly known as Swasiland). The 4 teams, each one with his own support vehicle, will ride through breathtaking landscapes. Also, they will go a day on safari in the Kruger National Park. All funds, raised for this event, will be used to support Christ’s Hope operations in South Africa.
We are planning another mountain ascent in August 2020. This time, we’ll climb Africa’s second highest mountain : the Mount Kenya. We will climb the 4985m high peak Lenana. This summit is accessible for everyone with a good physical shape. It’s not a technical difficult mountain. You don’t have to be a seasoned mountain with lots of technical experience. You mainly need a good physical shape.
In October 2020 we are going to participate in the Antwerp-Banjul Challenge. That is a 7200 km long trip from Antwerp (Belgium) to Banjul (the capital of Gambia). We will ride all the way through the Sahara desert.
We call this the “go Transsahara for Hope” event. Not only will we support a local good cause, we will also raise funds to support the Christ’s Hope operations in Africa.
